The Regional Executive Council is the executive organ of the region. It comprises:

  1 (ONE) PRESIDENT;

  1 (ONE) VICE-PRESIDENT;

  1 (ONE) COMMISSIONER FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT;

 1 (ONE) COMMISSIONER FOR HEALTH AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT;

1 (ONE) COMMISSIONER FOR EDUCATIONAL, SPORTS AND CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT;

2 (TWO) SECRETARIES;

1 (ONE) QUESTOR.

These Regional Executive Council members were elected during the first session from among the regional councilors of the region and for the duration of the term of the Council. The President and Vice-President of the North-West Regional Executive Council are native personalities elected from among members of the Regional Assembly for the duration of their term of office. The election of Regional Executive Council members was established by order of the Minister in charge of Regional and Local authorities.

Members of the Regional Executive Council took the oath before the competent Court of Appeal in Bamenda before assuming their duties. The oath, pronounced in English, read as follows: “I swear on honour and pledge to serve the interests of the region and to loyally and faithfully discharge my duties without discrimination or favouritism, in compliance with the law and in accordance with the values of democracy, and the principles of unity and integrity of the Republic.”

Mr. ANGWAFOR III, Fru Fobuzshi

President

The President of the Regional Executive Council is the Chief Executive of the North West Region. As such:
1-He is the interlocutor of the Representative of the State;
2- He represents the region in all civil matters and before the law courts;
3- He chairs the sessions of the Regional Assembly;
4- He chairs the sessions of the House of Divisional Representatives when it sits
5-He prepares and implements the deliberations of the Regional Assembly
6- He authorizes the revenue and
expenditure of the Region, subject to separate provisions laid down by the laws in force;
7- He manages the property of the region and monitor such management, particularly with regard to movement on such property, subject to the duties devolving to the Representative of the State and mayors.

The Vice-President of the Regional Executive Council comes from the category of traditional rulers.
He assists the President in the discharge of his duties and benefits from a delegation of signature for the discharge of the duties entrusted to him.

The Commissioner for Economic Development is responsible for
implementing the policy of the region on the exercise of devolved powers in the fields of economic action, environmental and natural resources management, planning, territorial development, public works, town planning and housing

The Commissioner for Health and Social
Development is responsible for
implementing the policy of the region on the exercise of devolved powers in the fields of health and social action.

Commissioner for Educational, Sports and Cultural Development

The Commissioner for Educational, Sports and Cultural Development is responsible for implementing the policy of the region on the exercise of devolved powers in the fields of education, literacy, vocational training, youth, sports, leisure, culture and the promotion of national languages.
