The House of Chiefs comprises 20 (twenty) members from among traditional rulers elected in accordance with the legislation in force. It is chaired by the Regional Executive Council Vice-President, who doubles as President of the House of Chiefs and he is assisted by a Regional Executive Council Secretary (Secretary II).
The House of Chiefs rules on all matters falling within the powers of the Regional Assembly. It gives its opinion on the following issues:
– The status of the traditional chiefdom;
– The management and conservation of historical sites, monuments and vestiges;
– The organization of cultural and traditional events in the region;
– The collection and translation of elements of oral tradition.
– The Committee on Environment, Regional Development, State Property, Town Planning and Housing.
The House of Chiefs comprises 02 (two) committees, namely:
– The Committee on Administrative and Legal Affairs and Standing Orders,
Education, Health, Population, Social and Cultural Affairs, Youth and Sports;
– The Committee on Finance, Infrastructure, Planning, Economic Development,
